There we were, crowded together in a high school cafeteria. Nothing in common except that we want to be teachers. We were young and old, short, tall, thin, fat, quiet and talkative. We came from so many different backgrounds and experiences. Some of us want to teach English, history, Spanish, social studies, algebra, physics, drawing, football. We all carried our dreams.

Some of us we doing it because it's the only thing we can do, others because it's the only thing we want to do. Regardless of our backgrounds or reasons, we were all there to take a certification test. The state of Arizona says that it doesn't matter who you are or what you can contribute, there's certain things you should know. You should know how junior highers react to peer pressure. You should know why a teacher would change his methods of discipline and classroom management. You should know what kinds of assessment are appropriate to build the self-esteem of students. You should know what strategies to take when talking to parents or guardians. You should know how to take a multiple choice test.
